European Roulette Betting Guide
But before you step up to any of our tables, it’s vital, just like with online slots, that you know the ins and outs of a game, what bets you can place, and what the differences are between each of them.
The first thing to note is that there are two types of bet to choose from when playing Roulette, inside bets and outside bets, and we recommend players become accustomed with both before they join any of the games we have at Castle Jackpot. It’s also worth noting that other variants of Roulette will contain more advanced bets, so if you choose to play one of those games, jousters will also need to be clued up on those bets.
So let's begin our list of Roulette bets with the basics:
If thou art new to any of the Roulette games we offer at Castle Jackpot, then we recommend placing a basic outside bet. These are some of the most favoured bets by players because they offer odds of even money (1/1) and due to the fact they cover more of the possibilities that could arise when a round is being played.
There are five types of bet which fall into this category, and the odds of winning on these bets stands at 48.65% if jousters are playing on a European Roulette wheel which includes 36 numbers and 1 zero.
Red or Black
Players will be on either of the two colours which are featured on the wheel.
Even or Odd
Similar to the Red or Black bet, jousters can bet on whether the number the ball falls into will either be odd or even.
Low or High
This bet is placed on either half of the 36 numbers that appear on the Roulette wheel. The lower numbers are categorised as 1-18, with the remaining 19-36 classed as high.
On a Roulette table, players will notice that the numbers are split and listed in 3 columns. They can also place bets on whether the ball will land into any of the 12 numbers which are present in each of them. The bet covers one third of the wheel, and the potential payout on offer for this bet is 2:1.
The numbers listed in each column are as follows: Column 1 - 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34 Column 2 - 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35 Column 3 - 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36
Although this bet looks quite similar to a column bet, it’s actually on whether one of a dozen numbers will be the outcome of a spin. The numbers players can bet on consist of the first 12 (1-12), second 12 (13-24) and the third 12 (25-36).
Alongside outside bets, which cover a wider area of the Roulette table, there are also specific types of inside bets which players can place on either single numbers or small groups of numbers. Due to the fact there is more risk seen with these bets, the payouts on offer if the ball lands in a player’s favour are increasingly higher.
There are 4 main types of bets which fall into this category, and we’ve listed them below so all our jousters will know exactly what they’re betting on.
This bet has the highest odds available in Roulette which is 35:1 and if players are looking to place a bet on 0 which is coloured green and fits into none of the other categories listed in the game then this is also given odds of 35:1.
Placed on two numbers which are adjacent to each other on the Roulette table rather than a single number, this bet offers players two potential chances to win. The two numbers must be either vertical or horizontal neighbours as the chip to cover this bet - which has odds of 17:1 - needs to be placed on the line which separates the numbers.
This is the three number bet which is available in Roulette and lets a player gamble on the outcome of whether the ball will land in 1 of 3 numbers on the wheel. These streets can be found within the sections which also show the ‘dozen betting’ so they can be easily identified by a player. Specifically betting on this will offer players odds of 11:1.
If they choose to place this bet, a player will gamble on four of the numbers that are available on the Roulette wheel. The numbers must form a square on the table and the odds for this bet are 8:1.
The Differences in Betting on European and French Roulette
When betting on a standard game of European Roulette, all of the bets listed above will come into play. However, if jousters choose to bet on the French subversion of the game we have available, Grand Live Roulette, then another set of rules will be added to the game which can affect the next spin.
The first is the ‘La Partage Rule’ which effectively means ‘splitting’. If this rule comes into play, a player will lose half their bet and the other half is then returned to the player. They can then bet normally on the next spin.
The second rule is the ‘En Prison’ or ‘in jail’ rule. This means your money is not lost if the ball lands on zero, but it's left on the table for the next spin. If the bet wins on the next spin, a player’s stake will be returned; if it loses, then the stake is forfeited.
