11 Roulette Bets Explained
When Roulette comes to mind, one thinks glamour, Las Vegas and the wheel that holds the fate of the players in its hands. One more key element that you should consider are bets, what they are, how much you can bet and the differences between the roulette bets. In this post Castle Jackpot will make it all clear to all knights and maidens and recommend our favourite Roulette games to play.
To begin, there are 3 different types of bets to choose from when playing Roulette, these are: inside bets, outside bets and announced bets. A tip from Castle would be to know the inside and outside bets, inside out before starting to play Roulette online as these are the basic and most popular bets for the Roulette game. Once you have become accustomed to the game the announced bet is something you can begin to explore on our Live Casino page - though it should be noted that announced bets are far more advanced and may only feature in specific selected Roulette variants. So in this post, Castle will be explaining the inside and outside roulette bets.
If you’re a first timer or someone who isn’t very confident playing roulette, Castle would recommend playing the outside bets because they offer better odds.
The most favoured of these bets are known as ‘even money’ - they cover more than half of the possibilities that could arise. All of the bets in a roulette game that are known as ‘even money’ are red or black, even or odd, low or high (1-18 or 19-36). As one can imagine, the odds of winning any of these bets must be 50%, however if we were to be precise the exact percentage of winning these bets would be 48.65% in European Roulette and 47.37% in American Roulette due to the 0 pockets on the wheel. Being a very high probability bet, the payout is 1:1.
A bet on either the colour red or black is made by placing chips on the colour of your choice.
Even or Odd
This bet is very much similar to the red or black bet, however you either bet on all the even or odd numbers by placing your chips in the appropriately marked areas.
Low or High (1-8 or 19-36)
This is a bet that is placed on either the high (1-18) or low eighteen numbers (19-36). This bet can be seen as a bet that is almost even as the zero is not included in the bet. Depending on what area you want to bet on, your chips will be placed on the appropriate place.
The other outside bets are:
This type of bet is split into three columns:
1st column: 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34 2nd column: 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35 3rd column: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36
Please note this is the same layout for both European and American column bets.
The bet is placed on one of these columns and covers one third of the wheel. This bet is a beginner’s favorite as the possibility to land a number from any column from either the European or American wheel is higher than other bets. The payout for this type of bet is 2:1. If you’re a beginner looking for something a little more chilled through your Roulette game, give our Online Slots a gander and try out an online slot game.
The gamble with this type of bet is whether one of a dozen numbers on the layout will hit. This could be the first, second or third block of 12 numbers. These numbers are not a dozen back to back numbers on the wheel, they are numbers that have designated betting areas on the number board. There are three different types of dozens and you are able to bet one two of those, the payout of this bet is 2:1.
Inside bets include gambling on a single number or on a small group of numbers. There is numerous ways to group your numbers, however they are all related to the position of the number on the table. This type of bet is seen as more of risk due to the notably lower odds of winning in comparison to outside bets, however their payouts are impressively higher. There are 6 different types of inside bets, all with different payouts, these are:
This is the bet that covers a sole number. To place this bet, the chip must be placed inside the square of the chosen number. Being the bet with the lowest probability, the payout is the highest being 35:1.
When placing this bet, you are betting on two numbers out of all the numbers available, with the chips being placed on the line that separates the two. You should note that the numbers chosen must be neighbours on the table. The payout for this bet is 17:1.
This is a three number bet, the players gamble on a row of numbers. The payout of this bet is 11:1.
With this bet you would be gambling on four numbers and they will form a square on the table. The payout for this bet is 8:1.
For this bet you would gamble on two rows of numbers, therefore you would be betting on 6 numbers in total. The payout for this bet is 5:1.
This 5 number bet is only available in American Roulette and permits players to bet on 0, 1, 2 and 3. The payout of this bet is 6:1.
